I’m wondering how everybody’s projects are coming along so if you feel like letting us know please chime in!

Kinja'd!!!

Personally, the Fe2O3-body is in debugging mode. I replaced all of the wiring last year and I’m now chasing down things that aren’t working quite correctly. This consists of mostly bad grounds and connectors that aren’t... connecting. Right now I’m after the reason the heater blower isn’t working. The dash switch was the first culprit I found. Luckily it is an old design and I was able to take it apart and clean the contacts. Now the switch works, but the blower still doesn’t. Well, it does if you give it 12v straight from the battery. I then found that the pin is pushed out on the bulkhead connector that goes between the interior and the engine compartment. I have to take the hood off to get to that so it has to wait until I can get somebody to give me a hand doing that, which will probably be tomorrow. After that, the tach!

So, where do you guys stand?

Update: Yep, it was the main bulkhead connector. The blade for the blower was bent and pushed out. Of course after I fixed that and put the connector back together the headlights wouldn’t work. Now THAT pin was pushed out. All good now.

It happens. Sometimes it’s funds, sometimes a lack of time or motivation and sometimes it’s just life getting in the way. We’ve all been there.

I’ve been working on the old ’Murlequin again. This time, it’s valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, timing cover gaskets, and a few other items while things are accessible.

I hate to say it, but I’m not convinced that the previous owner’s “rebuild” was exactly comprehensive. It’s possible that they just gave it a ring job and called it good. I mean, it’s got decent compression, but I found what looks to be the original 289k timing chain behind the timing cover, and wasn’t pleased with the amount of slack in it. So it’s getting a new timing set as well as a new harmonic balancer.

Kinja'd!!!

I plan to go ahead and adjust the valves tomorrow, before putting the valve covers back on.

I’m always a little skeptical when people claim the engines are freshly rebuilt. At least the rings are probably new.

The triumph is solid, commuted on it today in 95 degree heat with no issues whatsoever. No bogging, no fork leak. Not bad for a non runner I picked up on Tuesday.

The zombie scoot needs piston rings, feels a little low on power.

The cafe bike still needs a mount for gauges, but is otherwise solid.

The jag works but it idles like I put a giant cam in it.

The alfa works but the battery won’t hold a charge so i can’t really take it anywhere

the engine in the s10 is kind of exploded

Basically a normal day for me

The Fiero is still sitting under a car-cover in my driveway. Needs battery, fuel pump, brakes, headlight motors, all new fluids and tuning. And probably new tires at this point, plus some interior work.. Also, some punk-ass neighbor kids shoved rocks in the exhaust pipes so I need to suck those out with a shop-vac or something.

On the plus side I hand-washed and waxed and detailed the MDX and the Monte Carlo last weekend so I’ve got that going for me. But I also picked up a nice new green door-ding from some brodozer at work two days after, so that’s not cool.

The e38 has a suspension hydraulic line leak. Have to get it a new windshield, oil change and front struts. I got other projects like a 2000 yukon that needs a new engine and transmission (not hard have the tools but getting a vortec 350 is hard), a volvo 240 manual 5 speed that I’m selling with a friend to flip, and a recent jeep yj my dad got.

Driving it, I could tell that the engine was in better shape than the mileage would suggest. Transmission felt pretty snappy, too. But my idea of a rebuild is doing EVERYTHING while the unit is out of the vehicle.

I can’t see the rings, but my scope caught a glimpse of the cross-hatching, so that’s a good sign.

Operation “Save up and import a FIAT 126 to Canada” is, sadly, currently in the fundraising stage due to no full-time permanent job yet / nowhere to store it / still living at home. :(

My current Operation “Mount LED driving lights to RallyDarkstrike’s DD ‘09 Accent hatchback” is almost ready - I have the switch (and a hole made for it), the lights and some wire and a fuseholder/fuses, but I am not 100% sure where I want to mount them yet (although I am 95% sure it will be in the grill), and, more importantly, as they are just the small ‘Eagle Eye’ type ‘bolt’ LED lights, I am not sure HOW to mount them at the moment. Currently 3D modeling 3D printable ‘adapters’ to try and get them to mount straight in the grill as the grill is actually canted back at a slight angle. I also want to take the wire I DO have back and replace it with some smaller gauge stuff.

Also have to figure out where to mount the Ground to, and how to easily get the wiring into the cabin for the switch...hoping there is a wiring grommet from the engine compartment near the drivers side...

I know my Camaro has plenty of holes in the firewall on the driver’s side. In fact one project that keeps getting pushed down is to put grommets or plugs in the ones that don’t already have them.

We harvested some rocks (boulders?) from my parent’s place and I brought home a crane from work to set them waaay up the hill. Then knocked out the wall on the left of the hideous stairs.

Tomorrow I have to move the liriopy from the right of the sidewalk to the left and a haul and spread a truck load of mulch.

15 ton crane makes moving rocks (without cat tracks in the lawn) easy. Forgot to get a photo of that. Should have.

I received the title for the S2000 in the mail today, a month after I paid off the loan. I’m planning to take it to a friend’s friend’s body shop tomorrow to get some things looked at, then ... there’s always more to do.

The Camry ... I had the interior shampooed and I want to sell it, but I’ll need it for a while if the body shop needs the S2000 for a while.
